Microfluidics: History, Theory and Applications
Microfluidics is a microtechnological field dealing with the precise transport of fluids (liquids or gases) in small amounts (e.g. microliters, nanoliters or even picoliters). This book gives a survey of microfluidics: biophysical, capillary forces, computational fluid dynamics, droplet formation, electroosmosis, electrophoresis, flow simulation, fluidic network simulation, heat transfer, inertia effects, jets, laminar flow, magnetic separation, mixing, multi-physics, particle flow, solid/fluid interaction, surface effects. Specific application of microfluidics is presented: electrokinetic flow, flow measurement and micro-PIV, acoustic sensing, electrokinetic bioanalytical systems, miniaturized capillary isoelectric focusing, and polymer based microfluidics, polymer dynamics in microfluidic systems.
