Sovereigns of Time is based on studies of how executives view their managerial and leadership roles. One of the books recurring themes is time and how the aspect of time is expressed in managerial circles. The authors thesis is that what happens in and around a company is often a result of coincidences and chance, and cannot therefore be handled as planning problems. From this perspective, managements main task appears to be one of synchronisation, which means that our practice of leadership should be revised in order to suit the new demands that arise.
