The Annonaceae is one of the largest tropical plant families (about 2300 species) with a worldwide distribution. A number of these species are of economic importance (fruits, perfumes and for ornamental purposes). This CD-ROM contains a fully up-to-date information system with an overview of all known genera (121) of the Annonaceae, compiled by an international network of specialists. New concise descriptions and additional information are accompanied by detailed line drawings, photographs and color slides, and distribution maps. An interactive geographic information system presents distribution data and supports geographic searches. A literature database with over 4800 references and a hyperlinked, illustrated glossary of terms with more than 300 illustrations are part of the system. This CD-ROM is a taxonomic reference work for researchers from various disciplines such as plant taxonomists, curators of plant collections, ecologists, foresters, ethnobotanists, pharmacologists and nature conservationists.
