Kontinen's research looks into Finnish voluntary organisations in their practice of planning and implementing development co-operation projects with their partners in Morogoro, Tanzania. The book identifies central developmental contradictions and learning challenges in the partnership between Northern and Southern organisations and connects the particular projects with the wider system of development co-operation especially through concepts of power and trusteeship. The critical examination of the micro-level practices provides novel insights for the academic audience interested in the dynamics of development encounters. Additionally, the book provides spaces for reflection and learning for the practitioners engaged in actual development co-operation projects.
