To meet the demands created for a new generation of nurses at the threshold of the millennium, the editors of Nursing Informatics have prepared this revised third edition of the premier reference text that has defined the role of technology in nursing. The book addresses three main areas: nursing informatics education, enabling technologies, and emerging trends. Core chapters and appendices from the first and second editions have been updated and expanded. New chapters on project management, consumer informatics, data mining, electronic medical imaging, and telehealth have been added by contributors who provided examples of integration of technology into nursing, rather than theory. Readers will be apprised of the latest developments in: Curricula, competencies, and careers; Clinical capabilities-usability, nomenclature, and data mining; Approaches to projects and people; Clinical support-decision making, and care delivery; Telenursing, telehealth, and telecommunications; Web and Internet-based resources Marion J.
