This release contains all of the recordings made by the great Stan Getz during the 1960 sessions that produced the double LP Stan Getz at Large (Verve Records MG V-8393-2). The album was recorded in Copenhagen, Denmark, and the saxophonist is accompanied on all tracks by the same rhythm section, consisting of Jan Johansson on piano, Dan Jordan on bass, and William Schiopffe on drums. Johansson would die in a car crash in 1968 at the age of 37. As a bonus, this release presents three additional complete sets by Getz and Johansson in a quartet format from the same period, including the extremely rare and long unavailable May 1, 1960 broadcast. The latter show contains a beautiful rendition of “Ack Värmeland du Sköna,” a traditional Swedish folk song which Getz had arranged and introduced to the jazz world as “Dear Old Stockholm” in 1951.
