Experiences in Finland, Germany, the Netherlands and Sweden.
The role of mental ill-health in sickness absenteeism and work disability seems to be increasing in Europe. Recognising this trend, researchers from Finland, Germany, the Netherlands and Sweden have prepared country reports based on statistical information available on the disorders behind sickness absenteeism and work disability.
These reports examine the time trends and epidemiological evidence on morbidity, consider possible interpretations for the trends, and describe the promotion of mental health in the respective countries. The present volume also contains chapters on gender differences in sickness absenteeism, on international activities in mental health promotion, and on the evidence available concerning the effectiveness of mental health promotion and the prevention of mental disorders.
