Eldritch Escape: Tokyo is a game set in modern-day Tokyo, where you play as an “ordinary person" hunting a giant monster. There's no heavy firepower, or guns, or elite soldiers in Eldritch Escape: Tokyo. The people risking their lives to fight the monsters were, just a little while ago, normal, everyday people. Because of this, the first time you play the game, you'll probably die almost instantly. Even after you get used to it, you'll probably still die a lot.
—But that's okay.
Because in Eldritch Escape: Tokyo, you have a partner who'll revive you each time the monster kills you. You'll be brought back to life, whether you want to come back or not, and sent out to fight the monster once more. And as you keep dying and coming back to life, you'll learn a little bit more about the monster that killed you, eventually finding the monster's weak points and how to defeat it.
But don't trust your partner too much.
And remember, after coming back to life so many times, there's no guarantee you'll be the same person you were before this all started.
