In two world wars, the waters off Britain were often a no go area because of submarine activity as the German U-boats laid waste to coastal shipping, fishing boats and shelled coastal towns. Some of these vessels were sunk and, including British and allied submarines, over 150 submarine wrecks dot the British coastline.
