For many years the legal status of the state taxation of banks, never too definitive, has been most precarious. This study traces the evolution and implications of the legal issues that revolve around the taxation of banks and evaluates the methods of bank taxation now in force in the several states. A suggested solution of difficulties is offered for consideration. Originally published in 1935.
