Database as a Service (DBaaS) is a cloud computing self-service model where end users can request database services and have the resources automatically provisioned. DBaaS provides a shared, consolidated platform to provision database services on a self-service model for provisioning those resources, elasticity to scale out and scale back database resources, and chargeback based on database usage. This book is designed to serve as a planning guide to develop and implement Database as a Service based on live implementations.
