Musical theatre is one of the most collaborative arts as well as one of the most popular and accessible genres. Composers, writers, visual artists, performers, directors, choreographers, agents, critics, and audiences are all involved in the production and promotion of this repertory. The range of extant publications on musical theatre demonstrates this diversity of approaches and materials; such variety also indicates this collection's potential use for non-music specialists. No recent large-scale annotated bibliography on the subject exists. This volume will focus on musical theatre in the popular "Broadway" form with additional coverage on the closely related film musical and musical theatrical styles in several other nations. Sections include: general histories; musical theatre surveys; film musicals; creators and works; performers; performance studies; periodicals; sets and series of printed material; discographies; and recorded anthologies.
