Dr. Whatley presents a thought-provoking book of short essays, highlighting his views on a wide variety of topics such as religion, politics, and the human brain.  None of his thoughts are likely to be welcomed by the fundamentalist clergy.  However, whether one agrees or disagrees, readers will find this book an erudite, enlightening work that offers intellectual food for thought.  It is a serious book that elucidates Dr. Whatley's theory of a rational, natural immortality for man and beast as opposed to the mythical supernatural immortality of religions.
