Dairy co-operatives as a group are the most prominent among farmer co-operatives in terms of sales revenue and the important roles they play in the dairy industry, a major sector in agriculture. Their mission, functions, organisation, governance, operations, market performance, financing, etc., are in full agreement with the economic theory of what co-operatives are and what co-operatives do.
