These masterful depictions of alluring women are drawn from the "Ukiyo-e," woodblock prints of Japan's "floating world" of fashion, entertainment, and sensual pleasures. The works of famed seventeenth-century printmaker Kitagawa Utamaro are well represented, along with those of other popular artists of the Edo period. The 117 images also depict noblewomen and peasants.
