COMMUNITY-DWELLING OLDER PEOPLE IN INPATIENT REHABILITION
To support frail older adults’ independent living at home, the practices of rehabilitation should be reconsidered so as to accommodate their varied and multifaceted needs.
It is necessary for older adults to understand the link between the activities undertaken during physiotherapy and the tasks of everyday living. Older adults should also be allowed a more active role during the course of therapy.
This can be done by providing older adults with group activities where tasks relevant to everyday living are solved collectively by the group and the participants’ own initiatives and independent actions are permitted.
