This simulation CD-ROM uses six scenarios of various crimes (juvenile murder, prostitution assault, arresting force/DUI, search and seizure, embezzlement/white-collar crime, and incarceration classification/parole) to illustrate all of the stages of the criminal justice system. The student is able to make choices about the outcomes of the simulation at various decision points in each scenario, thus illustrating the consequences of each choice. The scenarios utilize video, court room drawings, and numerous forms to build the evidence of each case. This CD-ROM can be used in a variety of manners: it can be used to introduce new material, concepts, and ideas to a class before assigning specific textbook chapters, or it can be used as a reviewing device to reinforce the meanings of terms and concepts that students have already encountered in class or in assigned textbook materials. The CD-ROM scenarios may also be used to spark relevant class discussions, as a basis for group research projects, to encourage cooperative learning among students in class, and even to assist in bringing students to the Internet. And students can use this exciting and game-like CD-ROM to explore on their own.
