Rosenzweig on Profane/Secular History
This monograph deals with Rosenzweig's presentation of how profane/secular history comes to be constituted and thereby precipitates the fundamental problem of an all-encompassing relativism. In as much as the whole Rosenzweigian philosophical/theological edifice can be seen as an attempt to overcome this problem by finding anchorage in a reference point that is absolute in its permanence, the topic which this work addresses can be seen as the foundation on which Rosenzweig's entire system stands. This careful treatment of Rosenzweig's presentation of the self-constituting nature of history makes a vital contribution to an appreciation of Rosenzweig's thought as a whole.
