As an increasing number of studies have acknowledged, the concept of power holds a prominent position in Benedictus de Spinoza's (1632-77) metaphyiscs. This work presents a thorough exposition of the recent sicussions, expands on them, and provides a unified account of the dynamistic aspects of Spinoza's system. By giving an informative analysis of the main concept and its relation to causation, existence, and action, the author develops a new interpretation of Spinozaäs compelling metaphysics of temporal being, thereby offering original solutions to problems pertaining to the theories of agency and individuation contained in Spinoza's masterpiece, the Ethics.
