Lahti has hosted six previous editions of FIS Nordic World Ski Championships, more than any other city in the world. This book presents the stories of these six grand events: their background, people behind the scenes, emotions and thrills of the competitions themselves and their aftermath in the history of Nordic skiing, not forgetting results and statistics.

The history of Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti reflects the development of skiing sport, changes in world politics, progress of gender equality, growth of sports business and technological innovations over the past 90 years.

The authors are researchers from the Sports Museum of Finland and Lahti Ski Museum.
