This is a fascinating and well illustrated look at the work of Portuguese contemporary artist Vasco Ajauro. Vasco Araujo is part of a new generation of Portuguese artists for whom art is conceptual, multidisciplinary and polysemic, and a means for constructing thought provoking narratives. In his productions Araujo tells stories that deal with the human condition, the complexity of the individual, the social dimensions of seduction and the games played by the powerful. Using the landscape, myths and famous operas as narrative frameworks, he examines cultural stereotypes in relation to individuals who are socially marginalized because of different cultural beliefs.
