After working on this year's group project, using a reference photo of child actor Dicky Moore and Petey, from the classic "Our Gang" movies, each inmate provided the art instructor a list of what they wanted to draw, and the results were often very impressive! From masterfully crafted graphite and color pencil drawings, to cartoons and illustrations, with supplies provided to them by California's Arts-In-Corrections program, this workshop took place each Saturday for ten months, allowing each inmate to spent three hours drawing, as well as socializing with fellow art students who outside a classroom setting may or may not have been acceptable to do the following: * Learn how to take the skills they already had as an artist and take it to it's next level. * Work together as fellow artists. * And for those with little to no experience in drawing, they discovered what they can do when given the opportunity to try. To expand what I have already said - the results were impressive!
