After serving eight out of his nine-year contract with the army, Frank finds himself back at his old training barracks in Surrey. One year left and he could not wait to say 'bye bye', although he was a great soldier. He was back at the barracks to re-train as a bodyguard driver, which was well within his capabilities. It is there that he bumps into his old friend Peter, but also finds a new love interest in Wendy, a beauty who works in the NAFFI bar. Worried that the army would not bother to train him up for just a year's work, Frank is relieved to bag the cushy job driving numerous VIPs around in the utmost comfort, privacy and security. After overhearing a conversation between four army big-wigs, Frank finds confidential documents on his back seat and cannot resist reading them. After his year is up, Frank is thrown back into life on Civvy Street and takes on a number of other jobs in the hope of earning enough money to marry his Wendy. It is a hard task for Frank to forget about the documents he read before, and he just cannot resist risking everything to take on such a gem of an opportunity.
