Secure Automotive Networking examines the common business models, ITS frameworks and security architectures that are being developed and deployed in major research programs and urban centers for automotive networks. It introduces the security problems and the potential solutions in the area of wireless communication for ITS systems and discusses the current state of the art. It also gives an overview on research and standardization worldwide in this area from both an academic and an industry point of view.

The book is divided into four parts starting with an overview of automotive networks in Part 1 which examines ITS around the world and looks at the challenges that are faced. The second part introduces the building blocks of automotive networks examining the applications, networks and data used and explores the security technologies used in the automotive engineering process. Part 3 moves onto consider the architecture-driven approach to secure automotive networks, looking at research issues and solutions before defining good automotive security models. It also looks at the design and management of security networks and explores the constraints on both vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle to infrastructure (I2V) networks. Part 4 presents case studies automotive network security and privacy architecture with examples from around the world.  The book concludes with extensive references and recommends further research papers, books and standards that might be of interest to the reader.
