Yorishiro : for flute solo
In this new publication Tilmann Dehnhard has written a virtuoso piece for solo flute. He creates an incredibly atmospheric piece which includes modern techniques such as key clicks, singing while playing, wind sounds and quarter tone notes.
Each technique is careful explained in the score with fingerings given above each note where needed.
The piece is inspired by Japan and Tilmann writes the following in the preface:
Japan has countless ghosts, some of them are wind- and air-ghosts. Most of them are benign. To appear in our world, they need special places to stay in. These could be trees or special rock formations or pipes – even flutes could serve as such a place. These special places are called Yorishiro.
This piece is sure to become standard repertoire for the very advanced flutist who loves exploring modern techniques.
