For the last six years, comic legend Frank Tieri has been offering up tales of monsters, both human and supernatural, creeping in the streets of Brooklyn. As it turns out, these big city beasties, be they ghosts, vampires, windigoes or simply human beings bent on revenge, have been responsible for events as widespread as the Coney Island fire of 1911, the ’77 NY blackout, and even the Revolutionary War’s Battle of Brooklyn. The “truth” behind all these events is not what the public thinks it is. But thankfully, Tieri is here to set things straight. This includes all six of his stories from John Carpenter’s Tales for A HalloweeNight, including A Haunting Grows in Brooklyn, The Ghosts of Steeplechase, The Beast of Brooklyn Heights, The Brooklyn Basher, The Night the Lights Went Out in Brooklyn and The Cryptid Killers. As an added bonus to the collection, Tieri has penned a seventh story, writing himself into the narrative, to tie these events and characters together. All seven stories are illustrated to perfection by his frequent collaborator Cat Staggs. You’ll never look at New York the same way again.
