Many animals gain greatly from contact with humans, but many others do not. What do they really think of us?
When we begin to think about the animal kingdom and our impact on it, there is much to reflect on. In this book, animals express their thoughts and feelings through short poems – their hopes, their fears, the petty irritations and the more deadly problems caused by human beings.
As we read and look at the colourful illustrations, we can also spend a little time thinking about how we respond to them: some animals seem proud, scary, self-sufficient or needy. Some we find it very easy to love and care for. Some we find hard to understand or difficult to approach.
The only thing we can be certain of is that they are all interesting in their different ways and deserve our everlasting admiration and respect.
