Olivier is a member of Camerata RCO (the chamber ensemble of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra) This is the second solo cd Olivier recorded. The first contained, besides the Paul Hindemith sonata, merely pieces that were not originally written for double bass. With Bottesini and Glière this new cd contains now also the iron repertoire for double bass. These works explore and use every aspect of the double bass; from the virtuoso to the expressive. They belong to the first compositions in which the bass is treated as a genuine solo instrument.
