In 1885 two women were part of a group of eighty hostages held by the Plains Cree. The Frog Lake massacre is brought alive with much detail. Gowanlock begins the introduction by saying that she wants to set the record straight about her time with the Indians and then she wants nothing more than peace and seclusion. It is important for the reader to study this work from a historical vantage giving consideration to the facts as told through other accounts of this incident.
