Each year, the Journal of Music Teacher Education provides music teacher educators and others interested in the training of music teachers with information on the latest issues, trends, and research in music teacher education. The journal, which is available online to all members of MENC: The National Association for Music Education, is now being offered as a paperback yearbook comprising all articles in a volume year. The articles cover a variety of topics related to music teacher education, such as professional development, the National Association of Schools of Music standards for teacher education, music for students with special needs, interaction between university and public school music teachers, the attrition and retention of music educators, and mentoring graduate teaching assistants.
