Grey, by the artist Tapani Rinne, is the thirteenth album to be released on Signature Dark label.
In the world, things are rarely completely black or white. Life is mostly gray, including all the shades of different grays which are defined by their location between the deepest black and the brightest white. On the other hand, without these extremes, it would be difficult to define this gray spectrum. Everything in the world has a limit, a beginning and an end.
The events of recent times and the threatening images of the future shaped by them are reflected in the atmosphere of Tapani Rinne's new album. Rinne says "Despite everything, it is believable that the collective understanding of humanity is developing. It is facilitated by art – sensory horns that foresee the future and keep hope alive.” Who can define hope on a general level is hard to say. The meaning of hope is changed by the point of view and the individual examining it. "Hope" thus moves into the gray area as one manifestation of it, which everyone tones to be like their own. Rinne's "hope" on the album is left to the listener's free interpretation.
With the release "Grey", Rinne continues his musical research in the structure of electro-acoustic ambient in the spirit of the previous albums "Radioton" and "Foghornia". The sounds have been produced using only the bass clarinet. The sound of the expressive woodwind expands even further with the limitless possibilities of electronic manipulation.
