1919. One of the greatest and best known of the medieval occultists was Theophrastus Bombast von Hohenheim or, as he is generally called, Paracelsus. He belongs to that type of mysticism which may be termed scientific rather than religious. He was not so much a mystic as an occultists, being a magician rather than a saint.
