This is a two-book course which makes students familiar with a wide range of genres and reading techniques. It covers the main literary and creative genres including fiction, poetry and drama. It also uses extracts from "Frankenstein", "Jabberwocky" and traditional pantomime as introductions to pre-20th-century work. "Read On!" also features authentic reference materials and functional literature such as holiday brochures and recipes. It uses these to develop such techniques as skimming and scanning to extract the maximum information in the minimum time.
