This Elizabethan farmhouse, with its beautiful 17th-century style garden, is richly entwined with the survival of the monarchy in Britain. For two nights in 1651, Moseley Old Hall became a place of refuge for King Charles II as he fled the Battle of Worcester. The future king hid in the house's priest-hole as his searching enemies came to the front door. The support of the Whitgreave family afforded Charles time to plan his escape.
