1913. Stratton-Porter was an American feminist, environmentalist, photographer and one of Indiana's most famous female authors. Many of her writings were moralistic and romantic novels. Laddie is a wonderful child's book and is thought to be based on her brother Leander who drowned in the Wabash River.
