1918. Stratton-Porter was an American feminist, environmentalist, photographer and one of Indiana's most famous female authors. Many of her writings were moralistic and romantic novels. The protagonist in A Daughter of the Land is the youngest daughter of a prosperous Indiana farm family, who fulfills her dream to own her own farm.
