Megan Maddock, haunted by the death of her father and the loss of her Florida home, accepts an invitation to visit her uncle and aunt at their island estate off the Irish coast. She hopes to forge a bond with her only remaining relatives and find answers to questions about her dead parents. But their behavior troubles her. The island's centerpiece is a maze surrounding a little banqueting house called The Temple of the Winds. Among the invited guests are three handsome men: a resident, Irish handyman; an Irish artist; and an American writer. None of them are what they appear to be. And neither is Banba Island, once home to a group of Druidesses, led by Aithne, who engaged in a supernatural battle with Romans. A mosaic of redheaded Aithne is in The Temple of the Winds. Megan, beguiled by the island's beauty, also senses an undercurrent of evil. Soon that evil threatens her, as she falls in love and tries to discover answers to the many questions about her earlier life.
