Dorothy Campbell is one of six children born into a wartime Yorkshire Dales family. Her father is killed in WWII but appears to Dorothy as a spirit of the paradise land of EIysia. When Tom Harries leaves Seedale to study at university to follow a career in the church, Dorothy travels to Manchester, where her life changes dramatically.
