The second edition of this survey guide has been prepared to assist countries participate in the 2001 Co-ordinated Portfolio Investment Survey (CPIS), which aims to improve the exchange of data regarding holdings of portfolio investment assets, in the form of equity, long-term debt, and short-term debt. The guide outlines the scope and concept of the CPIS; methodological issues; and country experiences in conducting the 1997 CPIS; and includes appendices containing model report forms, definitions and descriptions of instruments, and the International Securities Identification Number (ISIN) code system.
