Rebecca and Harry depart on holiday to the Pyr n es, hoping to explore for hidden Cathar gold. They make friends with two young French neighbours and learn about a past mystery that was thought to be solved; but was it? Past activities had centred on a burnt-out Manoir once used for smuggling agents during the war. In this series of adventures the foursome find links from that past indicating the mystery was far from solved. Soon asking questions puts them in danger from a man determined to avenge the past. Their investigations take them to mountains and gorges where they come close to losing their lives when they find themselves facing a ruthless adversary who is prepared to resort to any means to avenge perceived wrongs. Graham, a finance investigator and possible spook from London, flies to France to help, worried at risks the quartet were taking when he knew their adversary was determined to wreak revenge. However, the crooks soon find that Rebecca is no meek and feeble woman, but a feisty lady who can look after herself; although that was not enough to prevent her being pushed off a cliff.
