In contrast to many recent offerings where cultural matters and Romanisation are to the fore, this history of Roman Britain adopts a narrative approach, with an overwhelming focus on military and administrative matters. The big events, such as Caesars invasion, Boudiccas revolt and the construction of Hadrians Wall are covered in the greatest depth, but there is still plenty of room for less well known developments in the 3rd and 4th centuries.
