Domestication and Husbandry of The Paca
This document describes methods and means to domesticate and raise the paca, Agouti paca, a wild mammal from dense forests of south and central America. It is shown that in changing the imprinted behaviour during early stages of life, the animal becomes sociable, loses its agressivity and by living in groups rather than in pairs, increases its reproductive rate, making its husbandry an economically viable enterprise. The husbandry of paca is an interesting breakthrough because of its highly praised meat, and it may also relieve the hunting pressure on wild populations.
