At first, aspiring writer Cicely was insulted to be asked to pose as the anonymous lady author of a vastly popular book. Then she realises that such pretence would gain her entry to literary circles. As the saga continues, Cicely smells a story and she is led to a man whose outward cynicism could not hide his true romantic nature.
