The 'Collected Works' by Alexander Nikolayevich Scriabin is a scholarly, practice- oriented edition of the great Russian composer's oeuvre. Its purpose is to present critically verified texts of Scriabin's works on the basis of comprehensive study of extant materials, including sketches and first drafts, editions that appeared during the composer's lifetime, recordings of his performances on mechanical piano. Important information on the origins of each work and on the process of composition can be elicited from the composer's literary writings and extant correspondence, as well as from the memoirs of his contemporaries.The critical examination of the texts takes into account also the editions prepared and published after the composer's death by specialists who had studied his legacy.The present edition, apart from musical texts, provides comprehensive information on the history of works' creation, publication and performance, as well as textual comments.
