Considering the increasing frequency and influence of clinical trials in nursing (and medical) practice a key question arises. How well do nurses understand the process, results and eventual interpretation of clinical trials? Overall, the evidence would suggest not very well. If nurses are unable to critically examine the validity and general applicability of clinical trials, they may well contribute to the inappropriate application of treatment strategies after the results of such trials have been reported. On a more practical level they may not be in a position to ensure that a clinical trial is properly conducted at their own centre. This book is a practical resource for nurses, that cover's all aspects of the purpose, design and interpretation of clinical trials.
