Have you had the misfortune of losing a child to an accident or illness? This story of loss is a little different than most. There wasn't a funeral. On March 11, 1989, the Scott family said "good-bye" to their bright ambitious twelve-year-old son. A new life began as Justin recovered from a critical head injury sustained on the ski slopes east of Seattle, Washington. This is a candid retelling of the emotional story of how Justin Scott's accident affected each memeber of the family. Like the great city of Jerusalem, when it was conquered by the Babylonians, our family crumbled. Stone by stone tehy fell until all that was left was a heap of rubble. It would be nice to say their faith didn't waiver and their walk was secure - but it didn't happen that way. Further family illness, and strained interpersonal relations required the grace of God for restoration. The Scotts pray their story will bolster the faith of others, give hope to families in crisis, and challenge some to new levels of personal and spiritual commitment.
