Forschungen zur Kirchen- und Dogmengeschichte
Although the Regensburg colloquy held in 1541 had a good setting, the representatives from the old order and the new Protestant order failed to agree on how to celebrate the Eucharist - an ominous event for the future church. This debate was held in a period of the Reformation in which the final schism of the church did not seem to be inevitable. In 1541 three representatives from the old order and three Protestant theologians discussed the articles of the Worms book. In this volume Saskia Schultheis focusses on the conversations held concerning the sacraments, in particular the disputes about the nature of the Eucharist. She analyses the various positions held from a systematic-theological vantage point of view and shows the dogmatic premises of both sides. This leads her to discover the reasons for the failure to agree at this colloquy.
