Seeing An Invisible World - History Of Thermal Imaging
The development of modern thermal imaging began, when in 1840 Sir John Herschel presented a thermal imaging technique later called Evaporography. From this first beginning without any electrical components it was a rocky road to today's thermal imagers equipped with digital electronics. Many capable scientists and engineers have contributed to develop a theoretical understanding of thermal radiation and to create the instrumental prerequisites for building thermal imagers of practical use.
