Labor Market Performance in Transition,
More than a decade after the start of the transition process, levels of unemployment continue to remain at high levels in a number of Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries, with high long-term unemployment rates and significant regional variations, even in some economies which are achieving good growth rates. This publication examines the labour market experiences during the transition from centrally planned to market-based economies, using a variety of methodological approaches including the construction of a new data set and a simple analytical model, econometric estimation and case studies.
