The Political Economy of Cameroon analyzes the significant aspects of the country's political economy from three perspectives; evaluating the performance and heritage of the past regime, assessing the prospects and challenges of the new regime, and analyzing the power shift from Ahidjo to Biya. The contributors who have done field work in Cameroon or are natives of the country are uniquely qualified to provide an understanding of the present situation. The essays focus on state development policy and Cameroon's place in African economy, realistically and persuasively assessing the difficulties faced by this state in unifying the disparate forces in the country, and selecting an appropriate development strategy.
